Storage & Handling
Lyophilised peptides are stable for years if you respect the temperature, light, and humidity envelope. Once reconstituted, the clock starts.
Lyophilised Vials (Unopened)
- Temperature: −20°C in a freezer with stable temperature control. Most compounds are stable for 24+ months under these conditions.
- Light: Store in original packaging. Several research peptides (notably GHK-Cu) are photosensitive and degrade in ambient light.
- Humidity: Desiccated. The vials ship with a desiccant in the secondary packaging, keep them there until use.
- Freeze-thaw cycles: Avoid. Pull the vial from the freezer, reach room temperature for 10–15 minutes, reconstitute, and store the reconstituted solution at 2–8°C.
Reconstituted Solution
- Temperature: 2–8°C upright, ideally on a refrigerator middle shelf, not in the door.
- Light: Original vial protects from most ambient light. For prolonged storage, wrap the vial in foil.
- Duration: Compound-dependent. Typical window is 14–30 days. See the product page for specifics.
- Visual check before use: Solution should be clear and colourless. Cloudiness or precipitate is a discard signal.
Special Cases
GHK-Cu
Stored desiccated at room temperature, away from light. The copper-binding chemistry is what makes it photosensitive. Once reconstituted, refrigerate and use within 14 days.
Melanotan I
−20°C unopened. After reconstitution the solution is stable refrigerated for 30 days but is light-sensitive, keep in original packaging or wrap in foil.
Retatrutide & Semaglutide
Cold-chain sensitive. Ship and store at −20°C until reconstitution, then refrigerate. Solution is stable refrigerated for up to 30 days; protect from agitation.
Shelf-Life Clock
A lyophilised vial’s shelf life is dated from manufacture and printed on the vial label. The clock for the reconstituted solution starts on the date you add bacteriostatic water, label the vial accordingly.
Disposal. Treat used vials as biohazard sharps and dispose through your institution’s sharps stream. Do not discard unused reconstituted solution down the drain.
